British designer Faye Toogood has delved into her material library to create her new collection of rugs, produced in collaboration with the Italian manufacturer CC-Tapis. The wide range of materials, patterns and haberdashery in the Toogood archives provided the initial inspiration behind these 10 new designs, which translate postindustrial influences such as vulcanized rubber, distressed plaster and security mesh into raw yet gentle furnishings. The resultant rugs experiment with a variety of quilting, applique and stitching techniques: “Cage” features a diamond latticework effect derived from steel grilles; “Rope” and “Quilt” incorporate sinuous appliqued coils; “Thread” and “Patch” play with layering and fraying; and the diagonally bisected “Tack” features a graphic, abstracted stitching detail.
Produced entirely by hand in Nepal, using eco-friendly wools and silks, it is the first time that hand-knotting and hand-weaving have been combined in the same rugs. The designs are available in a restrained palette of cream, charcoal and raw, undyed tones - the Toogood aesthetic gives a fresh iteration for CC-Tapis.

The Maker /
CC-Tapis
Born in France, designed in Milan, and produced in Nepal, cc-tapis offers beautiful hand-crafted rugs from some of the world’s leading artists and designers. Each cc-tapis rug tells a story of tradition, quality and contemporary design. At the centre of these stories is a traditional production process where a group of Tibetan artisans work by hand, refining natural materials, passing down artisanal know-how from generation to generation.
The Designer /
Faye Toogood
Faye Toogood is a British designer. Her furniture and objects demonstrate a preoccupation with materiality and experimentation. All of her pieces are handmade by small-scale fabricators and traditional artisans, with an honesty to the rawness and irregularity of the chosen material.
