For Cam Barrett, light is more than illumination – it’s a medium for sculpture, shadow, and intrigue. With a background in 3D art, animation and digital sculpting, Cam brings a deep understanding of form to each piece he creates – blending technology, creative insight and a strong respect for materiality.

For many years, I have wanted to create lamps and light shades that diffuse light in interesting ways while taking inspiration from organic forms.

Cam works exclusively with recycled PLA, a renewable polymer made from corn and sugarcane, sourced locally from a company that transforms post-industrial food packaging and recycled plastics into high quality PLA filament. Each outer shell and some internal components are 3d printed, then hand-finished and assembled with care. It’s a slow, intentional approach to making – one rooted in responsibility and craft. More than lighting, these works are expressions of a belief: that beauty can be responsible, that materials matter, and that design has a role to play in how we shape the future.
