Since we started our design store, we’ve been creating events to showcase furniture and objects by inviting our customers to a more three dimensional experience. It’s something we’ve grown to really love. Over the years we’ve experimented with all sorts of ideas to enhance the moment – extravagant props, extraordinary cocktails, live bands and all sorts of catering options.

We love sharing the enjoyment of great design and hosting a beautiful event with incredible styling offers the perfect chance to do that. Here is our ultimate event guide, based on nine years of hosting experience.

Our Hosting Tips List

/ It’s the little things that make or break a great party. Take the time to make sure there is something really memorable that your guests will be talking about the next day.

/ Something is going to go wrong or at least not go to plan, you just don’t know what it is yet. If you keep that in mind, when something happens you’ll be able to cope with it.

/ When it does, keep a smile on your face and no one will know the difference. Allow more time than you think you need to achieve the tasks for the event day. That way, some situations might be salvageable.

/ Leave an hour to get ready so when your guests arrive, you're relaxed and ready. Some will always be early too!

Theme

/ Consider the season and the tone of your event. There are so many ways to add character to an event in any season by adding texture and detail with soft furnishings and décor. For our outdoor event we brought people into the grassy space with inviting lounge pieces, rugs and small objects.

Ambience

/ Lighting – Since we were outside with plenty of space and height, we added to the summer vibe with festoon lamps, hurricane candles, Stoff Candleholders and an Astep VV Cinquanta Floor Lamp.

The Visuals

/ It’s all in the details – Leave plenty of time to enjoy setting up the finishing touches like flowers, food and the serving areas.

/ Add some personal touches – We arranged a large printed portrait of Dan and mounted it on a large wooden easel to the side of the main gathering area. Smaller easels with family photos were set up on mini easels around the event too. We focused the furniture from our Good Form selection but also added some character vintage pieces.
