The Shell takes its well-deserved place among the legendary works of art by Niko Kralj. The basic idea was to use two equally formed plywood panels for the seat and backrest. The chair got its final shape in 1956 and soon became the chair of choice for socialist-era offices and public waiting rooms.
With its gently shaped wooden frame, this chair is both stylish and ergonomic. Simple, sculpted legs match the curved plywood’s gentle appeal. Beautifully crafted upholstery in premium fabric or leather enhances the chair’s look and feel.

Rex Kralj was founded to celebrate and protect the legacy of Slovenian industrial designer Niko Krajl (1920 - 2013). The company produces many of Niko Kralj's most important designs from the mid 20th century as well as collaborating with contemporary designers who take inspiration from Kralj's design legacy.
