Maker: Ercol | UK
Designer: Lucian R Ercolani | Italy
Year: 1957

This versatile Studio Daybed was designed by Lucian Ercolani in 1958 and has since become an icon of progressive British design. It features an attractive steam bent frame consisting of tapered spindles and arched arm rests. The back rest is formed from a large, refined plank of elm.

Designed to function as a large sofa and as an occasional single bed for guests, this distinctive piece is both eye catching and wonderfully flexible. The seat and back cushions offer a comfortable sit and rubberised webbing at the base of the settee provides extra support. Choose from a range of Ercol fabrics to suit the style and decor of your home, or select your own fabric.

A distinctive feature of Ercol furniture is the dedication to quality craftsmanship. This can be seen through the use of the classic Windsor wedge joint. This is where the leg of the chair goes right through the seat and a wedge is then inserted into a cut in the leg, forming a remarkably strong joint. Sanded off flush with the seat, the joint then provides a beautiful design element.

Made by Ercol

Ercol was founded in England in 1920 by a young Italian, Lucian Ercolani. His simple goal was to make furniture that was well designed and made in a good working environment by craftsmen who took real pride in their jobs. Today, Ercol remains a family owned company committed to protecting and sharing its highly celebrated legacy.

Design has always been at the heart of ercol’s rich history – design for comfort, design for function and design for beauty.
