We are excited for the team at Astep for taking home the award for Excellent Product Design in Lighting for the Candela. This elegant and ground breaking lamp was designed by Francisco Gomez Paz for Astep.
The Candela is an exceptional LED luminaire that generates its own light by burning lamp oil. The product’s striking design aesthetic is reminiscent of a traditional oil lantern – and thus the Candela’s form also communicates the link it establishes between the traditional and contemporary.

Candela Table Lamp
Candela continues the long tradition of Scandinavian flame luminaries by advancing the product with 21st century technology. From the heat of the flame, Candela produces its own electricity to provide cosy LED illumination, while harvesting energy to charge mobile devices. Candela is powered by bioethanol, a renewable fuel made from plants.
